I work with teens and adults who experience questions around their gender, are in emotional distress, are depressed and anxious, or have a tough time in relationships. Many of my clients feel they are highly sensitive people; they notice they struggle with their emotions and taking on the emotions of others, or experience sensory sensitivity. I also work with parents of teens who have gender dysphoria.
Being human is humbling and beautiful. There are no clear answers. We don’t get a roadmap for life; however I have found the tools of dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to offer us help and guidance. These approaches include skills for exploration of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, using mindfulness and building body awareness.
At its center, therapy offers a duality of self-compassion and a desire for change. As a therapist, I find it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they heal and grow. I believe the cornerstone of therapy is curiosity — I’m not the expert on you, but I’m willing to learn so that I can hopefully help.
I see clients in Philadelphia, and online.
